Metroretro Ltd

A mix of antique, vintage and handmade furniture and home accessories for private, trade and commercial customers. Stock typically ranges from 19th Century right up to the 1980s with a focus on MidCentury and the Industrial/Institutional look. The handmade side of the business will always look to incorporate reclaimed materials wherever possible, everything is made to order so customers can ensure they get the right fit as well as the right look.

An early 1980s pine single pedestal four drawer desk. Original campaign style handles. The desk is possibly Italian in origin as it has a very similar design and construction to a previous piece of stock. 110cm x 50cm x 70cm high 60cm internal height , 58cm internal width.

A handmade steel trolley with reclaimed pine bulb trays (sealed with a matt lacquer). The trays can be pulled out from one side. 62cm wide x 47.5cm deep x 138.5cm high

An industrial heavy duty height adjustable tripod, converted to a floor standing light. The tripod has been matched with the wire frame of an old standard lamp shade which has been painted the same colour. The height is adjusted by means of a steel split pin that fits through holes in the inner stem. The light is fitted with a switched bayonet bulbholder. The photos show the light at its highest and lowest heights. 64cm leg to leg height adjusts from 123cm - 168cm (measured to the top of the bulbholder)

A Uniflex double door wardrobe from the Q range of bedroom furniture designed by Gunther Hoffstead. Internally the wardrobe has its original rail, shelves and two drawers. There is a mirror on the right hand door and the wardrobe is on wheels. Dismantles for delivery and installation. 122cm wide x 56cm deep x 172cm high

A 15 section steel pigeon hole cabinet on wheels. Each pigeon hole is 23.5cm high x 28cm wide x 32cm deep. The wheels are made from a composite material similar to bakelite. The wheels and axles are removable if required. 162.5cm high x 91.5cm wide x 48cm deep inc wheels , cabinet depth 36cm.

A three drawer cabinet with a single door cupboard below retaining its original paint. The top is a gingham pattern formica. The Kandya badge is present on the rear of the cabinet. Designed by Frank Guille in 1956, this cabinet was part of the Trimma range of freestanding kitchen cupboards. There are marks on the right side and also rear of the cabinet that can be seen from the photos which weren't able to be removed during cleaning. This is reflected in the price.
